Andy Scott Demo Songs

The demo song Kudo was written together with Chris Bradford during Andy´s solo period and was never released. The Kudo was a nightclub in Ibiza.

The jingle 01 For London was written with Gideon Wagner who Andy was working with at the time.

Gideon was approached by London Television to write a jingle for a new London based evening news programme. At the same time the london phone numbers were been changed to 01 so the idea was to include that in the jingle as well.

Unfortunately the TV company didn't think the jingle was strong enough so went with another composer.

About Lady Starlight

When I wrote "Lady Starlight" for inclusion in the album "Desolation Boulevard", little did I realise that I would become the first member of Sweet to release a solo single. In fact I didn't really imagine that I would even sing it, after all Brian was the lead vocalist. Mike Chapman, our producer, immediately suggested that I sing the song after hearing a run through in the studio with an acoustic guitar. Once the album was completed, someone at RCA Records could see the potential of "Starlight" as a single but without Brian's voice it was deemed a bit radical to put it out as a Sweet single thus "Lady Starlight" by Andy Scott was the answer. After a few subtle production tweaks by myself and Mick at Air Studios [London] and some superb keyboard enhancements from Pete [18 with a Bullet] Wingfield, the solo single version was ready for release. And the rest is history.

At the Satisfaction Guaranteed Europe Tour 2014 Lady Starlight was back in the setlist again !

The Sweet epitomised the UK 70s Glam Rock movement with their trademark glitter and glam make-up. The Sweet were also a force to be reckoned with in pure rock music terms too. The Hits stand the test of time and the current line-up with original guitarist Andy Scott still keep the audiences shouting for more!
